HI, I am thinking I might need to form fit the last couple inches of a BK7 kydex insert. Any recommendations as to what kind of glue I should use to re-attach the liner when I am done?

This is all speculative as my BK7 was just ordered, but I want to be ready when it comes.

Thanks,NS6

3m super77 works best. I use to use kydex in upholstery at Dassault avaition (building falcon Jets) for three years. I went through alot of super77 (3m spray glue) with kydex!!! you'll want to roughen the surface al little and spray it on and allow one minute before attaching (to allow the glue to become "tacky"). Ive used similar glues in sheath making and super77 works really well.

hope this helps some!!

Awesome, Thanks!

I actually have some s77 on hand but was worried about sliding the kydex all the way back into the nylon part of the sheath. I was afraid it would fight me all the way in if I let it get tacky, as they are said to be a fairly tight fit anyway.

I will give it a shot though, Thanks again.

It doesn't take much. You only need a small blob at the top to hold it in. Try hot glue! Some thing that stays soft. The Spray on adhesive for automoblie apholstry would work but again just a little square inch or so.

When I bought my hot glue gun, it came with sticks of glue that were supposed to be used for woodworking. The cool thing is they give you like 1 min of working time instead of the seconds that the regular glue hardens in. Maybe epoxy would also work. Good luck with the sheath! :)

spray adhesive for upholstery is almost the same as super 77, but not as good. I would not try hot glue, it will not hold well on kydex.
