Glue recommendation for disk grinder?

I'm back in the shop. Time to replace a few things I got rid of in the move.

What's the go-to adhesive for disk grinders? I think I had been using 3M 77 spray. Worked alright, but the nozzle always gummed up way before the can ran out.

Older post that might still be useful:

I could never find one that stuck the right amount….self adhesive disks are my go to now.

For many years in jewelry and lapidary work I used feathering adhesive in a squeeze tube. It works well, but is messy to put on. Pretty much everyone switched to #77 spray. It works well, too, but can leave little bumps of glue on the disc. Both are a mess to clean up. When I started making knives regularly, I switched to PSA discs and never regretted the small cost increase. No mess, overspray, clogged nozzles, or bumpy spray layers. Keep the waxed backing sheet to re-seal the disc if you need to change grits. Store discs flat between heavy cardboard or wood sheets to prevent curling.

I now use a Nielsen interchangeable disc system with PSA discs. Only takes a few seconds to change discs.

I’ve been using 3M 45 spray adhesive and haven’t had any issues. I can generally change paper a couple of times before I have to clean the wheel off and re-apply. Mineral spirits takes it right off when it’s time to clean the wheel. I tried 77 a few times but it seemed to stick a little too much and the paper was harder to get off without scraping.

I use the 3m 77 spray. As soon as I’m done spraying it, wipe off nozzle w paper towel and acetone…no problems so far!

There is extra gas in the can. I hold it upside down and spray until it sprays gas only and haven't had a nozzle clog up since

I use 3M 77 and wipe the nozzle and turn the can upside down and spray for a couple of seconds, my nozzles don't clog that way.

I was fortunate enough to have bought a bunch of the 3M Feathering Disc Adhesive before the price went bonkers. Running 3
variable reversing discs I'm still happy with it.-------I won't run out.

Same, Idk it was going to become so valuable

It’s weird, 3M feathering adhesive became the end all be all adhesive for disc sanders but since it went away I honestly like spray adhesive better. Wish I had been using it all along.

"Fortunately" I'll get to try that too. ..hah :/ someday

For the 77 spray to keep it from leaving too much glue behind, I spray it on the sheet I’m going to cut as a disc, then fan the sheet for between 5-10 sec. Then I stick it onto the disc. I haven’t had too much build up of glue on the disc doing it that way.

I also wipe down my disc with acetone between each sheet but can go multiple without having to if I’m feeling lazy
