Well the shield fell out of my case sowbelly the other day. Is there any problem with just using regular super glue to sick it back on? Is there a better option for this job?
Either super glue or epoxy will do the job. My Case yellow handled peanut went through the washing machine once. The tiny
shield fell out but was luckily found. I glued it in with super glue and it has been fine for over a year.
Be careful with superglue, it degrades in water over time. 3/3 of the knives I made for my wedding with superglue now have no discernible glue in the scales and are being held on solely by pins (something I plan on fixing after I move). Nobody noticed anything until 3 years later so it may take a while. I would choose epoxy or a gorilla glue type of product.
I used a 'gel' type superglue to put the shield back in a Case 5344SS 'Red Shield' stockman (pictured next to the Schrade 8OT below). One drop is all it needed, it works fine. The gel type helps minimize chances of the glue seeping/running into places where you don't want it.
Give it a shot, and just keep an eye on it. If it starts to get loose some time in the future, then you can always pop it out and bond it back down with some Epoxy.
