The market seems flooded as hell. When i started buying Busse knives it was easy to buy one that you found and know that if you didnt like it you could turn around and sell it quick to buy another. That is not that case right now. Now it is a smart idea to do your research before you buy because you may not sell it if it does not fit you well.
I bought and sold about 16 Busse knives to find the three that fit well. The three I kept were a HH FSH, SHBM, and a NMFBM. I think Busse knives shine in the larger blades. I use different knives as my small slicers. If I would have gone through the same 16 knives now as opposed to months ago I would have taken a huge loss on them and not broke even like I did. I guess I lost money on shipping and such but thats a given.
Being in Casper Wyoming makes it hard to handle knives before you buy them, even the gun and knife shows are very small. I used to live in california and it would have been much easier out there. There is also very few pass arounds on more expensive blades, so that takes one more option away for people.
I think its partialy the economy, the knife market in general, and Blade/knob creek. Hopefully it all stabilizes, but it does make it easier for the normal guy to buy a Busse knife. It used to be annoying when it came to buying a Busse blade that was not being made anymore. Now, almost all of his knives can be found at any given time on the exchange. Thats a plus for buyers, but its making it hard for sellers.
