Been busy with some sheaths for Gray_Wolf and he sent up an AlMar folder with a braided leather fob that had a ring braided in with a little metal clip that would slip over your pants/coat pocket edge. Well that got me to thinking of using Kydex for the clip, but since I don't get Kydex I couldn't do it, till I sold a knife that left a little bit of Kydex over that was used to protect it. Kydex wouldn't be as noticeable as metal and wouldn't bang against your knife either.

Below is a William Henry T06 Micarta handle little beauty, nice little knife, the handle is 2 1/2" long, I braided a piece of leather and used a little bit of Kydex to insert into the braid so it clips onto the edge of my pocket. The knife hangs there, off the bottom and is also easier to get at!

Now, as you can see, I'm no great worker in Kydex, but those of you that are, you can probably work up a neater looking piece. I used a hole punch to create the hole where I braided the leather through, and when I go to return the knife to the pocket I just spread the `Clip' apart and saddle it over the edge of my pocket. Works well!

This one-ups the cord fob with break-away rig I put together for the hell of it. One day, the world will see that the fob is king, but while clips are still the rave, your combo is a perfect transition...

revision: break-away rig necessary because I sometimes lashed the fob around a belt loop or belt so it wouldn't fall out. The rig would let me release the knife in a hurry if need arose. That, or the belt loop would give out anyway...

Your set up is great, but damn I like that knife. I've got my eye on a William Henry myself. My source doesn't list one in white micarta. I wish I could find one with damaged grips, so I could re-do it in something I prefer over what's offered.

Gary, Great idea- simple and neat.
I put a fob on my daily carry so I could always get at it, but after working even the fob would start slipping into my pocket. So I started to carry it in that little third pocket in my levis, the top of the knife would stick out just right. Then the other day I stood up from the throne and as I was jerking up my briches I flushed at the same time and guess what landed in the toilet. Well, my jungle cat reflexes pulled a search and rescue mission and saved the SAK adventurer.
Needless to say the SAK is in my deep front pocket once again. your suggestion solves my problem. THANKS

John

Thanks guys, but the credit goes to Gray_Wolf, who only lurks here about. I just came up with an alternate clip out of Kydex.

I think if Chiro75 or Normark made one using a little thicker material it would be a real sweet setup.

John, nice catlike reflexes, but if I were you, I'd soak the whole knife in bleach and buy a new toothpick!
