So FedEx dropped this off on my doorstep today. Now I know what all the hub-bub is about. Took it apart, lubed it up, and now she flips like a dream. Stropped the blade and now it's a hair popper. Finally, I flipped the clip for tip up carry. Got it a great price and I couldn't be happier. Well, almost couldn't be happier.

I do have one gripe and only one gripe. Nylon washers? Really?! I expected brass washers at least. I would have really liked to have seen phosphor bronze washers. I know alot of people like nylon or nitrolon washers, but I prefer the phosphor/bronze washers. Other than that, it seems to be everything it's hyped to be. Now all I have to do is put it to some use. Oh yeah, it's a 3 1/2" model.

Congrats on the XM. BTW Those are Teflon washers and IMO are better than PB washers. They give the knife very smooth pivot action. Trust me no expense was spared in materials on the XM18.

And I forgot to mention no lubricant is neccesary when Teflon washers are used so that's a added bonus.

Thanks for the help Steel Snob. Good to know they're Teflon and not Nylon. When I first opened it up the action was very tight. I loosened the pivot and it helped a little but then there was slight bladeplay. Once I added a little of the CRK flourinated grease to the washers and pivot pin it was very smooth and flipped like it ought to. I'm impressed with the knife and feel that I'm going to have tough decisions ahead when I want to grab a Ti framelock.

You're welcome. Did you buy the knife new? If you did opening and closing it a little should make the action very smooth on it's own with out using CRK grease( which is just Teflon grease) or loosening the pivot. Although I'm sure the CRK grease won't hurt.

Yeah I bought it new. I guess it's just something that's customary for me to do when I get a new Ti folder now. Thanks or all the info though SteelSnob. Much appreciated.

Congrats! I love the look of the XM-18s. Flipper, non-flipper, 3, 3.5... makes no difference to me, they look good.

I hope you like it. I may have to look into getting one soon. I am trying to resist, but it is getting very tough.

Looks like a nice knife. They are a little thick for my edc uses, otherwise id be searching for one:).
