What's the deal with having a forum that's just for fun(Pirate's Cove) and only letting paying members in? I understand not letting us freeloaders
use the for sale forums and not letting us upload pictures and all,but having
a place that's just for the fun of it and not letting everybody that's over 18 in
sounds like you're trying to drives us non paying members off!

It's not like i post a lot or want to upload a bunch of pictures and i have no desire to sale my knives i'm not using up a lot of bandwidth and i'm not trying to make any money. I just want to read about knives and have a little fun!

Come on Spark let us all have a little fun or just make Bladeforums a private club for paying member that way i wont have to be disappointed every time i log on and you wont have to deal with us freeloaders at all!

You seem real proud of having 20'000 members. Having places we can't go without forking over some money seem like a good way to reduce that number real fast!

You couldn't get into the Pirate's Cove before (because it didn't exist) and now ... you still can't get into the Pirate's Cove. It's not like we're taking anything away from you....

We have to give the contributing members something to get enough people to contribute enough to keep this place going. We want to preserve Bladeforums as a free forum, open to all, so we make extra features for the contributors. It's like the stuff public radio stations give to contributors -- no doubt some people would like to get that coffee mug without having to contribute $100...

Besides, one of the attractions of the Pirate's Cove is the opportunity to hang out with the good people without being annoyed by the others. There are a few trolls and just plain annoying people almost everywhere on the net, even at Bladeforums, but they tend not to be paying members so they get excluded from the Pirate's Cove. Of course a lot of good people are basic members too. We can only hope they sign up eventually....
