I am looking to pick out my own wood for my knife and my dad's retirement gift knife.

From what I have found, Greenberg Woods and Arizona Ironwood have been solid.

Are there any others I am missing that have a nice website or instagram page to view individual pieces? I am looking for koa, ironwood burl, spalted maple, or buckeye burl.

Thanks all.

If you have a WoodCraft woodworking store in your area, they have a decent selection of exotic hardwoods.

Ben at Greenberg is a solid guy and a member here. I have used tons of wood from Az Ironwood, they have never disappointed.

Their stabilization is on par with any stabilized blocks I have ever used and far above most. For your project look at larger blocks and then maybe your knife maker could cut both set of scales from the same piece of wood. That would add further cool factor to the project.
