Just wanted to throw out something I tested recently with a loosely retaining leather sheath.
Ran a bead of "Go2Glue" down the inside face of the sheath and let it set overnight. I didn't adhere it to anything, just let the bead path set in the air. This glue is like a tougher version of silicone caulk so it has "bite" to it except it doesn't peel off. Literally perfect retention now.
