Goal achievement reward knife?

Have you ever given yourself a knife as a reward for achieving a certain goal? What was the goal and what was the reward?

For instance, I'm planning to run a full (26 mile) marathon in May, and I'm thinking I'd add the incentive of getting myself a (for me) relatively high-end folder after I complete the run (assuming I complete the run). It would be a personal trophy.

I'm curious to see what you knifeknuts might have done like this.

I buy a new knife every week

It's my reward for making it through another week:D

New job = new knife.

I personally haven't switched jobs in 2 years, but I have been on the hunt, and if I do switch, I'm going to buy myself either a Paramilitary, a BM 710, or a BM Kulgera.

So to answer your question, yes, I am an advocate of rewarding one's self with knives.

The first time I rewarded myself was in about 1990 when I bought a Leatherman mini-tool (now retired) for getting an A in a law school contracts class.

Now days I just buy blades to feed the addiction. BK9 last week, Spydie Tenacious this week.

thanks for the feedback. The once-a-week-reward--for getting through the week--I definitely hear you on that one!

But I don't do it. Can't afford it.

:-(

I think I'll do the same. A knife for each month sober. Thanks for the idea :D

I buy a knife as a reward for buying the last knife but I know I have a problem . . .

My Emerson Comrade was a reward to myself for managing to bench 250 pounds.
Now that I'm off the caffeine, my muscles should make far more headway(damned malignant hyperthermia:mad:), so hopefully I'll have some new milestones to reward myself with in the coming year.
Luckily, the scholarship I just got has helped pay for that reward.:D

About a year and a half ago, I bought a new knife (curly maple BRK&T Northstar) with some of my first paycheck from a new, higher paying job.

As it turned out, except for the pay, the job SUCKED and I quit last June. Then I bought myself another motorcycle as a reward for surviving that awful job for as long as I did.

Now I have a much better job but far less money. I guess I learned that money isn't such a great way to measure wealth.

I try to everytime I get out and stay a night outside. Or I help someone out on the side of the road or around the city.

I need about 3 new knives now, as I can't afford them at the moment =/

There's nothing wrong with buying yourself a reward for a significant acheivement. When I quit smoking 14 years ago, I bought myself a nice gold pocket watch.

It takes 10 hours of OT in a 2-week pay period in order for the company to pay me for OT. When I get paid OT, I use a bit of it to buy something for me, usually a knife.

I passed another semester of nursing school = new tomahawk for me.

lol

i bought my son a Boy Scout knife when he went from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Then when he got his totin' chip I bought him a Buck knife he wanted at Gander Mountain.

It's normal to rationalise a purchase to yourself. I kept asking myself whether or not I really NEEDED the Spyderco Paramilitary that I bought, but finally took the plunge and bought it and haven't regretted it.

Thanks bro... My name is also Matt.
