You need to read the rules...

But on a more serious note forgiving your language and attitude you need to let us know what kind of posting you are trying to do. If your just wanting to reply to a post and buy something then you seem to have a technical problem if you are trying to post up an item for sale then you really haven't bothered to read the rules.
 
I'm surprised the Exchange doesn't have a banner or something similar that just says "You must have a Gold membership or higher to post". But regardless, it's right there in the first section of the rules. You didn't have to read a whole lot to find it out.
 
maybe it's because I'm trying to do this on a phone. sometimes the rules are easily visible on the right hand panel but not when you're on a phone. I am aware that I am not allowed to sell anything, but I was specifically trying to post in the trading section

Initiating a Trade thread requires a basic membership. A basic membership is $10 per year.
Registered memberships are free. As a registered member, you can respond to somebody else's trade thread.

PLATINUM or GOLD - Platinum or Gold members are allowed to post in any of the Individual For Sale or Trade forums. They may sell items in the For Sale By Individuals, and can list items for Trade as well. They cannot sell items they have made, for that you will require a Knifemaker / Craftsman / Service Provider membership, no exceptions.

BASIC MEMBERS - Basic members are not allowed to post items for sale. You may post items for Trade in the Wanted To Trade Forums, or post requests for items to purchase in the Wanted To Buy Forums.

REGISTERED USERS - The first level of membership. If you have not purchased a paid subscription, you are by default a Registered User. As such, you are very limited to posting areas in the Exchange. You may respond to threads where you mean to purchase an item, or trade. You are not allowed to create threads for Selling or Trading (but you may respond to existing ads). You do have the ability to create Want To Buy threads.

are we having a terminology issue? i am attempting to trade one (or more) knives for another knife from the same manufacturer.
that seems.to fall within the "cant sell, only trade" guidelines, doesnt it? is "trade" being used to mean "engaging in any change of ownership whatsoever"?
and to the guy who reported me, come on, man-- "dammit" was just a little too crass for you?

edit: but for the record, im still sick of reading rules on the internet. i managed to get myself banned from painttalk's forums as literally their oldest member. nearly 20 years lol

I look at using the phone as "building a ship in a bottle", the screen is way too small for my old eyes.
When someone tries to show me something on their phone, I have to find my reading glasses to see it; just the way it is.
Rules are rules though.
