gonna dump my AK that ive had sitting around for a while. its a pretty decent specimen with nice STRAIGHT barrel imported by century. it has a wire folding stock and non-tapco poly furniture. thing is i got it from a buddy real cheap so im not sure what a good price for it is? like the title, its a romainian sar-1. the parkerized finish was coming off so i gave it a nice coat of krylon matte to give it some protection. so anyone know the going price on a good lookin used AK47? hopin for enough to buy a new canoe. thanks! -CB

Not sure of that exact model, but used AKs are going for $4-500 at the gun shows I've been a dealer at lately. Gun show prices seem high these days though, so I would imagine you would get quite a bit less from a private party.

with a folder i would say $500 to $750 or so depending on the exact model & how your paint job looks,.

traded it straight up with just one steel mag for a NIB sp101 3". im a happy camper at least. i know i could have gotten more selling it myself but i didnt wanna get calls from local G's bout my "chopper" ! took one out of the collection ill never seriously use for one ill carry daily. thanks for the input guys.

i could be wrong but i think SAR's are not very easy to come by. most available Romanian AK's are WASR's. the difference being a WASR actually entered this country as a 10 rounder and had it's mag well ground out (to accept 30 rounders) by Century Arms. whereas a SAR entered the country already capable of accepting a 30 rounder.

you can easily see the difference because a SAR has "dimples" in the receiver and WASR's don't. i'm pretty sure the alphabet boys got pissy about the SAR's a few years back and, as a result, they've become increasingly rare.

in good condition, i'd consider a SAR1 a better investment than the SP101. but, like you said, the SP101 is ALOT more useful.

.357 or .38?
