I am on my way! I traded two of my one handers this past weekend to a friend, he had wanted them, and it was part of a very big trade. He had a knife that I could trade for a custom slipjoint, very desirable. Now, I really like both of these blades, but I never carry or use them. Nothing wrong with safe queens, but I carry my blades. So, I traded with him. I still have a couple one handers that I only keep because of sentimental value. I've been carrying just slipjoints and a fixed blade for a couple days now, and it feels different. I've always had a one hander in my pocket, but never really used one. Dead weight in my pocket. I'm already thinking about trading back into these models at my local knife shop, but I want custom slipjoints more.

After realizing that I don't really need a one hander in most situations, I am finding that I don't really need them that much. Slipjoints get the job done.

Well done sir

It is always good to read of another convert to the traditional influence. :)

I personally think a slippie and a smaller edc fixed blade is the perfect combo.

I haven't bought a modern folder in nearly a decade, but I still like to carry one when I have the chance. My tastes lean heavily towards the traditional, but there's still a place for modern conveniences. I don't see the point in getting rid of all of them and keep a few around.

You're incorrigible Dan.

I love my trads, but I still like my one handed knives for the tools that they are.

I did the same.

Yup, sounds like you're on the way. Good way slow and enjoy the trip, having a nice oldy type pocket knife to use as a worry stone and cutting tool. I've got one that a good friend gave me that is very rarely off my person!:)

Funny I'm going the opposite I'm missing my one handers. After ~month of carrying a slipjoint it's starting to drive me a little crazy that when I have something in my hand to cut I have to put it down to have two hands to open my knife. Then pick it back up...

Thems fightin words round these parts.

Hi Dan!

Great to have you back, my friend. :)
Good to hear you are back on your trail.

I actually prefer the feel of a slippie as well in my pocket, more than I like it on a modern one-hand-folder. Slippies rock :D

Go on! :D I salute you.

My best Porky Pig impression...:D

Christian, I am keeping two one handers and one balisong, but they have become cumbersome to carry. One has a 4" blade and the other a 3.5" blade, it feels redundant. Not that about three or more slipjoints on me isn't.

Carl ;).

I haven't carried a one-hander (I have two I think someplace, don't know where for sure at the moment) in almost 2 years. I have no interest in them. The old basic pocket knife does any task I require with ease. When camping a 5" fixed blade goes on my hip, otherwise it's always traditional slip-joints anymore.

Where is the pic of the custom slippie? Tease....
I have a spyderco ukpk, that's as non-trad as I get.

Jackknife -

If you'd carry a SAK Tinker you wouldn't need that pouch, knife, can opener and screw driver coin thingie :-)

I've been carrying a slipjoint of one persuasion or another since I was six. I can't seem to break the habit, although most days I carry a one hander, too.

I have a tinker. Ialso have a Wenger SI. I also have a Leatherman tool. But sometimes I just feel the need to go 100% traditional and carry the stuff my old man carried. :)

That pouch is my wallet, and it's going to be in my back pocket anyways, no matter what I carry. The SAK won't go through TSA security like my old school keychain screw driver and P-38.

I can`t believe someone else carries the same wallet I do, right down to the zippered pocket with the zipper pull broke off!

I'm hoping to turn that rare discontinued production knife into a custom Ohta or Pena, I'm discussing a custom with Dr Taber right now. It might pay for that. When I get it I'll post pics. I've got a custom Wiseman barlow on the way, I'm on the list for a custom Cramer LC, not sure what I'm going for with Dr T. I'd like to get a Larock LC in a different steel than O1.

Still like my fixed blades though, I'd like to go for another Gossman and a BRKT Hudson Bay II this year. A peanut and a Hudson Bay, that's the only way to go!

A peanut and a nice husky fixed blade? Now you're starting to sound like my old man. That guy carried a peanut and a cut down old English machete. Between the two of those items he'd do anything that came up!
