I'm not going to do like most people and ask if a specific model of knife is good and worth getting, as there are a lot of threads going on about this specific model. So instead I'm going ask if there are any reasons to avoid Spyderco's Cara Cara2 model. Is there anything about this knife that's good reason to not pick it up, and instead try for something else?

I don't find anything wrong with it. I have the Byrd Robin which is really similar to the Dragonfly. 8Cr13MoV is the same. I find the Byrd line to be just as good as Spydercos 'Budget Line" (Tenacious, Resilience,Ambitious etc.) They make good beater knives

I'm a big fan of the Byrd line of knives. As starter knives, or beaters, they can't be beat.

I got a Tern several months ago. Its a slippie, but I can open it one handed. Nice little knife.

I don't see any good reason to not pick 'em up. I got the plain edge and a partially serrated Caracara2, both are good user knives!

Good luck on your Byrd hunting!

I had the Cara Cara 2 FRN and it was a solid knife only lacking in the fit and finish area. If I could go back I would have just put the money toward an Endura, I enjoy it that much more.

I had a Byrd Meadowlark 2. Fit and finish was not very good. I ended up giving it away. IMO the Spyderco budget line (Tenacious, etc) represent a much better value.

All of my Byrd knives have been outstanding in terms of fit and finish.
They are an excellent budget line.
The Cara Cara G10 is my favorite followed by my serrated Hawkbill in frn, now that is a handy little knife. The 8Cr steel is very good on these also.
They won't displace my S110V Manix but these are knives I use fishing and have no problem letting my son use them or lending them out.
