I will be taking my twin boys 12 yrs. old up to the Lake George area of Mammoth soon. I am a little green, and will definitely bring either too much or too little. Our main objective is to catch trout, but I also want to spend some Dad time with just them. We will be tent camping and I will be bringing a 2 burner stove, so I am not intending to rough it extremely hard. I want to spend at least one day stream fishing, because I really love hiking and finding good pools where the trout are. My questions to fellow BF members are:
Where is the best stream fishing area?
Where is the best lake fishing area?
What is the best camp site for tent wfire pit/less crowds/best camp site central to best fishing areas?
Do you have better luck with lures (rooster tails, super dupers, jigs) or floating bait synthetics, salmon eggs, or live bait-cricket or worms?
Do you have a favorite 4-6 pound test brand?
Does that flouracarbon invisible under water line work better than traditional line?
Do not have to stay at Lake George, just thinking about that, it was recommended as a good one. I will definitely post our fish pics! I have caught trout before, but I have to say my confidence has been shaken due to 3 strikes last 3 times out last winter in So Cal region trout fishing. I have high hopes for Mammoth. Thanks guys in advance for your opinions, and replies......
