Hey Guys, tomorrow morning a friend and I leave on a campout up at the top of Spring City Canyon. We will be gone till Saturday evening. So if you try to get hold of me and I don't answer, you know why.

We will be car camping so I'll be bringing a bunch of blades including my Fiddleback Camp Knife which will be on my hip, KPH, and Carver. Going to throw my Fletcher Operator 575, 12" Fiddleback Machete and a few HI Khukri's into my duffle bag also. Hope to have some good pictures of us using these blades on the trip. The Fire Restrictions have been lifted for the National Forests in Utah so we will be having fires and processing lots of wood! :D

Hope you all have a great weekend! I need to pack, make some more dutch oven food to bring (cook at home in Dutch oven, bring in coolers and heat on site, gives us more time to play) and finish a bunch of sheaths to ship tonight or in the morning before we leave.

hope it pours rain all weekend....hahhaaaa...kidding of course...I'm just jealous! have a blast my friend! we'll look forward to the pixs when you return...

I hope Heber is having better weather than we are. I left Thursday as well. Brought the family to northern Michigan for long camping / tubing weekend and its done nothing but rain. Im currently sitting under a canopy reading the forum on my phone. Rain forecasted for today and tomorrow. Ugh ....

watch out for those bees! I was trimming some elderberries yesterday with my FB Woodsman and then suddenly I was running wildly towards my wife waving the knife around yelling "Get it off!" Needless to say she did not help. Hope you get some nice weather.

Gents, we got home around lunch time today. Spend the first night up Spring City canyon at the local in-improved campsite, then spent Friday night up Ephraim canyon at another. Some of my friends couldn't make it, but one of my old friends could and he brought his 3 kids. The 5 of us had a great time.

2 blades saw lots of action this weekend, a 2.5# 3/4 Axe and my Fiddleback Forge Camp knife. They both processed lots of firewood. :)

There was no rain Thursday night or Friday. We did get sprinkled on a little Friday afternoon though. Friday night up Ephraim canyon we got dumped on hard. The rain only lasted maybe 20 minutes but it was really impressive! I was sleeping on a cot under a tarp shelter so I stayed dye. My friend didn't have the rain fly for his tent (just covers some vents at the top) so rain came pouring down on them through the vents last night. They managed to shift sleeping spots in their tent so that they only got a little wet.

Yesterday evening while I was building the fire up for coals to heat dinner (home made Dutch Oven Chili) Joe (my friend) taught his 3 kids that came how to safely skin bark off walking sticks, and smooth down handles with the knives. It was pretty cool seeing a new generation of kids learn knife safety. The second day and night I had my 1911 on my hip. All 3 kids were curious about it, Joe and I also gave them a few lessons on gun safety.

Well, thats enough for now. I think I'll go take a shower or something. Hope everyone else that went out this weekend also had a good time!

Very nice report Heber. A little bit of adversity in life is a wonderful teacher for those that are tuned in. It is very nice to hear the kids got in on the knife skills action and that you all had fun. Thanks for sharing.
