Going clipless...

I'm looking for a light and smallish locking folder that can be opened with one hand that will stay safely closed in the bottom of a pocket. I bought a BM Mini Griptillian with this intent, but I find that the Axis lock isn't strong enough to keep it closed securely.

Anyone have a suggestion for a knife near the dimensions/weight/quality of a Mini-Grip that will stay closed in a trouser pocket and is open-able with one hand? I'd like to find something with plastic or G-10 scales that is non-assisted/non-automatic.

TIA

Try the CRKT BULL or Mo'Skeeter - simply remove the clips. Attach a 'lanyard' - single length of cord - to the lanyard hole which you keep sticking / hanging out your pocket and it's easy to retrieve the knife. Practice first before carrying - both knives are 'tip-down' when carrying with the clip - they might open on retrieval with the lanyard.

The Spyderco Kiwi is a great lightweight (1.8 oz. - no clip) pocket knife that cuts like a razor.

Gotta Cast my vote for the Delica Or Native.

I havent tried a Byrd yet but they seem like a viable contender for this as well

Interesting, I carry my Ritter Mini Grip clipless everyday. It sits safely at the bottom of my pants pocket waiting patiently for the opportunity to jump out and cut something. Never once have I had an instance where the knife fell open. In this respect I am not sure how any of the lock styles would be really any different. Steven

I just got a Case Russlock in bright orange G10. It looks pretty cool, opens with one hand and will not open unless you want it to. Locks open, too. It's pretty tight so it takes some effort to open, but I'm thinking it will loosen up with time and use. It's definitely not "tacti-cool", but a Russlock might be a nice option for a 3" bladed, locking one-hand opener in colored G10. I've discovered that Case knives are super sheeple friendly, you can use them/ play with them anywhere and nobody blinks.

I was thinkin' of a Kershaw Chive for a small, clip-less pocket knife, but now I'm wonderin': How safe is that speed safe AO system in your pocket?

I like the native. It was a toss-up between it and the Mini-Grip when I bought it. I like the nifty Axis lock. Now it looks like I'll be havin' both:D

Native works very well for clipless carry. Out of all the Spydercos I've tried it works best this way, with a G10 Meadowlark right behind it. I carry all my Spydercos clipless.

How about a Benchmite, they are small and ment for clipless carry (they don't even come with a clip)?
