Its been a while since I've needed to start a thread but finally the time has come!
I might be going to a dodgy bit of Eastern Europe (nothing fixed yet but it takes so long to get non standard knives here I wanted to plan ahead!), if I do I need a knife for self defence that doesnt scream 'American' and doesnt make me look like a military type.
It also needs to be reasonably inexpensive (<£100 you can equate that to about $120 with the inflated prices we pay over here) as there is always a chance it could be confiscated by the airline (I would pack it in my checked luggage though obviousley)
My first thoughts were Extrema Ratio Shrapnel but they are more money than I wanted to risk losing. Now the only thing I'm left with is a Fallkniven F1 w/ black blade or one of the Boker Turbines, but their liners are too thin IMO. The only other thing I could think of was a CRKT M16 I know they are American but they are probably fairly common place across the world.
I have a slight prefernce for a folder as I think they look less like a weapon, but I doubt there are any laws regarding that sort of thing there. Not too small (minimum 3.75" blade I think). Also I can open thumb stud folders much more quickly than the spyder hole style.
