I am going to take the wife and kids fishing next week. I want to stay two days but my wife is not very outdoorsy. My 6 and 7 yr old sons are hyped up. I can't wait to get them away from the dang tv/video games. They don't know how much fun dirt, sticks, and rocks could be. We will be doing some saltwater fishing. What kind of fishing do you guys like doing and where do yall go.

Well you have a good time there. That's something I like doing when I get time. A good fishing hole is hard to find. If you get the big one post some photo's of the fish.

I'm ashamed to say, I haven't taken my daughter fishing yet. But she's chomping at the bit to go, and she even claims she'll put her own worm on the hook... we'll see how that goes :D

I've been taking her camping since she was 6, and she absolutely loves it. We're lucky to live in a small city with a major river running through it, and lots of parks. My lil monster is just fascinated with turtles and frogs and birds and good lord, you should see her eyes light up when we see a deer :) We also started a tradition of bringing a small bucket on our little hikes to pick up any litter we see :grumpy:

Pancho, my dad did this kind of stuff with me when I was little, and I'm grateful for it to this day. Your kids will remember, too :)

Try to make sure as much as you can that the kids and Mrs. are as successful as possible....helps make them want to go back next.
My favorite, fly fishing for bluegill (Bream in the South)....and one of what used to be a favorite location is one of the ponds on Atterbury (just south of Terry's).....Don't know if they are still good but challenging.

I despise fishing.... it's too social. I prefer hunting. My kids love to fish though, luckily my wife's family has a few ponds near the house.

Hunting is still a few years out for them but its on the to do list. If you can find a seclude place(hard to find these days) you can hunt for fish with a hook all by your lonesome.:D
All the water by my house is a few canals. I see some guys out there sometimes, and heard you can catch 10inch +- a few inches but never tried.

I don't mind my children with me hunting.... I hate other people coming around when fishing.

Yea alot of times when I go bass fishing in the Rio Grande, Falcon Lake Resivoir it never fails that a bunch of young knuckleheads show up. They start blaring the radio, laughing and carrying on, throwing rocks in the water, scaring the fish away. I know what you mean. I've notice that people respect each other more when hunting. Could it be that way because one is armed.

My boys and me are counting the days for our little get away. I am trying to borrow a popup trailer so the wife will be more comfy. I have an old inflatable matress just in case its a no go on the pop up.

I live in Red Creek wildlife managment area, creek's about 4' deep & real clean [you can drink from it]. Good bream & catfish, but bass are small, deer& turkey all over. But no people for days, weeks. Also no cell ph. signal so I don't stay over 7-8 hrs, worry 'bout my wife and have to get back. Sure wish she could go with me.

I haven't attempted to fish for several years. Too expensive, too much hassle with licensing, tackle, dates, sizes etc... you can only catch a 1 fish between 30 and 31 cm Between 1pm and 3pm on the third Monday of September only if it is within 4 days of a blue moon.

Whittling a stick or taking pictures of rocks seems like a lot more fun.

Well I do admit if you get on a good crappie or bream bed it's a lot of action and can be kinda fun. I hate having to clean them all though.

We went camping every year growing up. We would pack up and head to Palo Duro Canyon with the tent and have a blast. We did get flooded out one year when we had to quickly evacuate the canyon in the middle of the night because of a flash flood. We had to leave everything and pile in the car. By the time we crossed the last of the water crossings, the water was already running close to 6" deep. We went back about 4 in the morning to the first crossing and the water was running over 10 feet and running FAST. In the morning we had to wait for a front end loader to clear out about 3 feet of mud from each crossing so we could get back down to the camp site. We let everything dry out and stayed 2 more days. I can't count how many times I almost died in that canyon while hiking off trails. :)

Good memories. Lately, me wife and I will occasionally go camping with my parents who now have a pop-up trailer. I know it's not really camping, but it's still fun to get out into country and still have an A/C.

I fish when I go to my trailer in Maine. Mainly striped bass with a little bluefish here and there. Luv it!

I like to fly fish for miniture trout in the rivers around here, Actually I like them bigger, but I never see them get very big. I took my daughter fishing (a lake) a couple of years ago and she enjoyed it. We are making plans to go again this year (she is 6), need to get her out a couple of times this year.
