Hey Guys..

This may sound a little strange..However.. :)

As anyone ever just gone out into the bush for a Snooze ??

I haven't done this for awhile,, but I use to take a pocket hammock, a blanket or sleeping bag and a pillow,, strung up the hammock and just Nod off for a few hours ??

I've done it alot of times either with a hammock or just a sleeping bag, pad and a pillow..

I'd go to one of my favorite spots and just Veg out..

My favorite time is in early spring (pre bugs) when it's still cool out,, spring peepers are peeping away..
Theres a small pond where I go thats just loaded with them..String up the hammock and get sung to sleep by a chorus of Peepers...

Speaking of frogs..
Friend of mine lived in the city...

Now get this...

He built a beautiful pond in his back yard.. Put some nice fish in there,, imported some bull frogs from up north,,some other nice singing frogs and the f-ing people in the houses around him complained because it was too noisy !!

LMAO...

They'd rather hear buses, cars boom boxes and police/fire sirens all night now..
Bring a little nature into the fold and they can't handle it..

amazing...

Ok,,so please tell me I'm Not the only one who does this!!

When I was 12, we moved out of New York to the suburbs, where we had a woodlot in the back yard. We used to hunt around there, climb the old stone wall, and walk up one big tree -- it was at a 45 degree angle, knocked over by a hurricane.

I got into the habit of lying along the upper part and one day actually fell asleep up there. Very comfortable. Of course, this was close enough to the house to smell dinner cooking, so it wasn't exactly a walkabout!

Sleep in the deer stand quite often. not really intending to, but...

I put in a pond for water retention and it collects numerous frogs / ducks / critters. my neighbors love it! It also took care of all their flooding issues.

I enjoy a good snooze after a morning of hard hunting and I have walked into the woods with the intent of setting up a lean-2 and bed area so I could take a dip in the creek and snooze away the hot afternoon.

i do it all the time... im a college student down here in florida and it can get pretty boring during the week when schools not going on, so during the day a couple times a week i just head out to the woods behind my house where i have a lil makeshift campgound set up and just relax to a nice fire with the trees blockin out the sun, its really not too bad. Sometimes ill even throw one of those crackling logs that you can get at like walmart and they put me right to sleep

When I am elk hunting in central washington I usually take a nap before it gets light after I have hiked into my spot. I love sleeping outside.

I have done this a few times in the past. The late fall is my favourite times ( less bugs, bears and people). I find a few days in the outdays is great stress management.

Oh yea atlist im not the only one lol. When i read about meteor showers in the area i would go to the santa monica mountain and many times i would just fall asleep laying on the rocks. 2-3 hours of that and i feel like i sleeped for 2 nights.
I sometimes drove my VW camper to the beach park the car and sleep in it. When i had my GF she loved to come with me and sleep in the beach she also said that would be the best night sleep. Now the police would run you away. damn life in the big city.

No, but I sure like a nap afterwards.:o :D

Sorry I couldn't resist.:p

Good one mate:thumbup:  LMAO:D :D :D

I actually ponder frequently about buying a hammock myself and finding some quiet trees for an afternoon nap in the comforts of nature.

I HAVE done this, during winter actually slept under some pines in the snow....bout two hrs later I woke up to a buck and a doe staring at me at 30yrds. Snow comin down pretty good too. I have done it in summer on rocks but I have been eatin up by bugs too much for that stuff anymore.

I was notorious for falling asleep in deer stands. When I was in residency, my friends would strap me into the deer stand with a mountain climbing harness. I fell asleep drooling over myself. My friend has a picture of it. There was a squirrel on top of my backpack. Truly embarrassing.

I've done it a couple of times. The first was when I first got my hammock and my first pack that wasn't a daypack. I hiked out to the back of my sister in law's property and set up camp for a few hours in the tree line. . . In the snow in February! Had my hammock and sleeping bag, with my poncho strung up as a tarp/windblock. It was pretty cozy once I figured out that I was loosing a ton of heat through the bottom of the hammock and just laid on top of the sleeping bag instead of in it to give me some extra insulation underneath.

I also do it to escape and find some peace and quiet when camping with a large group of people and their kids. . . just head out a hundred or two yards away from the camp sight and set up my own little minimalist camp.

when I was a boy, there was a spot out behind the house that was magical...it was like a scene out of that old movie.."Legend" with Tom Cruise...I used to go there and just think, or lay under this big Birch tree, and just listen to the birds. Good memories...that spots gone..they cleared that area for a swimming pool! wow, what a waste. Gene

Hey Guys...

Tree stands don't count..

Going out to do other things doesn't count...

I'm talking about going out where the Only purpose is to sleep...

As for tree stands..
OMG...

I'm the Absolute worst in tree stands, especailly in the mornings..
I spend more time in the stand asleep than I do awake...

If theres a slight breeze and the tree has a sway, thats it,, I'm a Goner...

The only way to stay awake, is to be in the tree stand uncomfortable...
