For all of you guys that have done conservation work please chime in! I'll be joining the Southwest Conservation Corp and will be doing work specifically in Durango Colorado. I'm pretty excited, this will be my fun time before real life begins and I'll have my career etc. So I want this to be an experience I'll remember and not wanting to forget! So help me with a list to "must brings". But before I start on the two month trip. I'll be working ten days and four days off. I won't be doing any back country work since the weather is a huge factor and the coordinators wouldn't want city slickers out there in the cold, etc. I'm not new to camping but I'm new to being out there for ten days and not in my home state so. I know that we'll be doing "car camping," so I know bring my own tent, toilet paper, Vaseline (dry lips), sleeping bag, tylenol, tooth brush, flash light, possible firearm, knives for sure, socks, hand sanitizer, bug repellent, water, dry fit clothes, books, what else??

Find out what the rules are before bg purchases and see if they provide a list of gear they advise to bring and think you need.
"Car camping" can be pretty nice if prepared well.
How much are you allowed to bring ?
If I was going to be sleeping on the ground for 60 days and in a tent, I'd get a good military style cot.
Sleep is important.
Get the list and go from there.

I happen to be a staff member with the Southwest Conservation Corps. Welcome to conservation work and getting paid to camp! The recruiter up in Durango will send you a full gear list. Please leave your firearm at home.

I agree with idroptapul leave the gun at home and follow the gear list that you supervisor sends you.

Enjoy Durango, it's a very cool place; a few seasons ago I worked for the Forest Service out of the Public Land Center (PLC) in the Weminuche and South San Juan Wilderness areas. Great Country. Check into the local hot springs to revive any sore muscles.
