I finally got around to ready a bunch of stickies and found that since I bought a membership, I'm apparently allowed to ask questions about knife pricing. If I'm wrong, slap me gently.

I want a few more CRK Annuals. What do you guys think is the "fair market value" for Annuals: LNIB, users, and ones that are generally in darned good shape. I'm interested in both Mammoth and regular wood inlays, so information about each would be appreciated.

They don't come up often, and I'd like to be ready to pounce if one is fairly priced. Of course, I know that items are worth what people are willing to pay, and it's up to me to decide if I willing to pay it, etc.

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, (unless CRK starts manufacturing them again) I am really not sure there is a fair market value. Seems that it boils down to how much you want a particular model and how much you are willing to pay. If the seller is asking way too much ... that should become quickly obvious if the knife does not sell. As a buyer, you could wait and see if the price on a particular annual comes down ... but then again, someone out there might want the knife more than you and opt to pay a price higher than you might pay. Anyway, that's how I view it.

These days you routinely see them go for close to $1,000, both large and small. Wether its mammoth or has damascus can certainly add to that. The days of them going for $500 are pretty much over. The more time goes on, expect it them to rise in price, as have ALL the "regular sebenzas". If you see one in the $750 range, consider it a steal. I have seen them go for $1500 also, it is what it is......... Like you said, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay, unfortunately, many out there are willing to pay for an Annual, just gotta be fast on the trigger when one pops up.

This is a good question. There is a 2006 Mammoth with Damascus and the Mammoth looks blue. I'd assume that would be closer to 1, 500 than 1k. I dunno if I'd consider it worth that. 1k for the annuals seems about what I'd expect the sell ads to start at.

For a small with a stainless blade (new condition and nice wood) I would expect the price to be somewhere around 650-700$. The prices will go up quickly for Damascus and mammoth.

Thanks for the input guys. I ponied up 850 for my large. I guess it wasn't a bad deal.

Great advice..pretty much sums it up. If I see something I REALLY want, I just pull the trigger. To me, the extra $200 more I "might" (subjective)be paying for something I have been looking for doesn't equate in my decision. I enjoy buying/selling CRKs so it comes with the territory I guess :)

I posted my large box elder 2009 annual for sale on the forum a few months ago for $800 and it didn't sell. I assumed it would go in minutes. I think there is a very fanatical market for annuals but perhaps it is very narrow.
