Hey guys.
I lurk here quite a bit and I thought I'd go ahead and post myself a thread. Tomorrow (saturday) I'm going shooting to with some buddies in the Cascades. We plan on going out on I90 to exit 47, which is the Denny Creek Exit. Lets hope it snows and doesn't rain. There is of course the off chance that it won't snow or rain. And lets also hope the snow isn't too deep!
A couple of the guys going are ex-military so it should be fun to see how they shoot compared to me since they have actual training and combat experience. I have neither of course.

I have to apologize for the bad pics. I really have no idea what the basics of picture taking are.
Anyway, So here's a pic of my pack. Its a "T.H.E." pack from Spec Ops. I think its just as well built as the MaxPedition stuff I own. Ugly color though.

Here's the ammo I'm taking.
44 mag
.22 LR
7.62x54
9mm
12g
7.62x39

And here's a pic of my "survival gear"

I have some Paracord of course, Hand sanitizer, Orange and Silver duck tape a first aid kit, which I moded to my own tastes (butterfly bandaids, flu meds, good quality bandaids etc)
And my actual emergency kit, its a small bag from County Comm, it opens like a book and has a couple of pockets on it, it also can be attached to your belt. So here's a pic of the contents.

I've got some hand warmers, fire steel, PCB's, a plastic fork, some electrical tape, water purification pills, a small sharpening stone, spare battery or my Fenix E01, a paint pen and sharpie and a couple of GI fire starters.

Not pictured is my regular EDC stuff and water bottle etc. Also not pictured is my home made target set up, which I'll get pics of tomorrow. Hopefully it will end up in one piece, unlike the last one. :(

Anyway, tomorrow I'll get pics of the guns and my knives and hopefully some good scenery and what not.

I've been eyeballing those county comm bags, how do you like it? Aren't they something like "BDU pocket organizers" or something like that?

I gotta ask a random question as well. Why a fork and not a spoon?

When I was a teenager, there was a bunch of us who would go on the prowl begging and borrowing firearms from family members who would lend us their firearms for an annual plinker. We'd dump all our money into different types of ammo's and just try out the different rounds and guns. That was a lot of fun. Of course that was a time when that kind of thing didn't raise an eyebrow. Now you would never have somebody lend out a gun like that to a bunch of teens.

Anyhow, your post brought back that fond memory.

Where are the guns...you can't tease with just pictures of the ammo!

Have fun today, and be safe.

I really like the little County Comm bag. It was inexpensive and works well. Its the only County Comm bag I have so I can't really say much about the quality or they're other stuff, but its it's any thing like this little big it should hold up just fine. I carry a fork because that's what I happen to have. I suppose I could carve a spoon if I needed one.

I know I know haha. I'll do my best to post up pics this evening when I get home.

I have a marlin Model 1894 I believe it is considered a carbine. It's a really nice accurate quick handling firearm.

Alright, So I got back at around 8:00 this evening. We all met for breakfast this morning at the Original Pancake House here in Ballard. After looking at the weather reports and the traffic cameras up in Snoqualmie Pass we decided we would go out to Granite Falls and see if we could find a place to shoot since Winter had hit the west side of the central cascades hard last night.
So after driving around for a while...

And after looking at a bunch of places that we're either too far of a hike, too small, too populous or too wooded we found a great little spot at the foot of Mount Pilchuck.

I didn't get pics of all the guns we took, i know i know :( So all I can do is give you a list. Yugo SKS, Marlin Model 1894, CZ-75B, Old Marlin .22 training rifle, H&K USP Compact in 45, Marlin .22 lever action, Ruger LCP, Ruger Sp101 I think?, and a Springfield Socom Scout, the one without all the crap on the front of it. :)
Anyway, here's a pic of my crappy home made, but perfectly functional, targets. After the shoot obviously. I have some re-engineering to do now.

Learned that a 308 will go through 3/8 mild steel at about 35 yards :)
Over all we had a pretty good time. It wasn't as cold as I had thought it would be. Probably right around freezing most of the day. My truck got stuck in about a foot and a half of snow, but we were able to push it out.

Can anybody guess what the last pic is of? Or I should say what it was?

Technically your both correct. Since I believe that a pumpkin is a squash. That one was too easy I guess.

My home state looks quite beautiful:D Looks like you had a blast! I need to take a few new firearms out this week...

CZ 75 Compact 9mm
Saiga-12 conversion (real evil looking:D) 12 gauge
Arsenal SGL20 AK
Marlin 981T .22LR
H&R model 929 .22LR

I also just received my new Burris Scout scope for my Savage Scout...need to get that zeroed!

The weather down here in TX is almost too nice...hopefully Thursday I'll take the day off...

Hope you guys had a great time,

ROCK6

Steel Targets Ruined? Yep, seen that right off!

The only steel that holds up to standard velocity rifle cartridges (non maganums and not zipp guns) is 3/8" AR500 steel and set out at 100 yards MINIMUM distance...I would recommend further if you do not want mini craters in your steel.

I may try and harden a plate and see what happens when I shoot it. I have a lot of free time lately.....
