My friend registered a campsite here.

Anyone has any experience?

Also, I am wanna go little bit more independent, what about areas around there? I would like to go hardcore.

I would also welcome suggestions, for new areas around there (not a campsite).

Get a map of the High Peaks region and spend countless hours hiking the trails and mountains without having to rent a campsite at all. Just make camp away from the trail, away from water and below 4000' and live it up...while the black flies live it up on your blood and flesh!:D

Parking your car at Adirondack Loj is a great idea for another trip. It'll be much too far from where you are going.

There are lots of books with info on the popular trails, mountain peaks and waterways. You could throw a dart at the map and find something cool to see that is as tame or wild as you wish. Have fun! It won't be hard to do.

If you head north past Speculator up toward Indian Lake you can climb Snowy Mountain (great view and an old firetower) or find Chimney Mountain just north of Indian Lake. There's cool rock formations and even a cave to explore. I'm not certain what's in the immediate vicinity, but a map of the southern section of Adirondack Park should show trails to hike near where you'll be going.

i regularly go to the pharoah lake wilderness, and enjoy it alot, its not super duper bushwacking as it used to be a road that people drove cars to a lake.... but its a trail now and its beautiful and perfect for a 3 day weekend or a weekend, there are lean to's around the lake and i have never had to share one yet... notably i dont go in the summer (peak season) and i go when there is much muck or ice on the trail (keeping the crowds away)

The Siamese Ponds wilderness area is big, wild and uncrowded. I really like it.

Stay sharp,
