I'm going to be heading up to Idaho this weekend for the Mountain Home Air Show. Should get a free afternoon or so to head to Boise, and was wondering what's actaully at the factory? Is there a store I can look through? Only the factory itself? Do you need an appointment to look around? And lastly, are they open on weekends? Thanks much.

Dave

There was not a shop so to speak, but a factory where, I believe, you could get a tour. Chris Reeve Knives is in the midst of moving to a new facility and I doubt you could get any type of tour at the moment, but a phone call wouldn't hurt. Good luck. The air show sounds like it will be fun!
:)

I've heard the move is complete. 4 years ago I rode my motorcycle from Los Angeles to Boise (that was a long trip I'll never do that again) to pick up my 2003 LE. I was able to meet Bridget and Lisa. They were very nice and willing to show me around even though I got there later in the afternoon on a Friday. I'd call to make sure. CRK is very proud of their facilities and more than happy to show their customers around. As far as a shop goes, in the old factory they had a small reception area and a few glass cases with knives for sale. I'm not sure about the new factory but I wouldn't be surprised if they have stuff for sale but that's not their main thing. I doubt if they are open on weekends but again a call will answer your questions. Good luck and let us know what you find out!:thumbup:

Scott Dog, nice answer.

Dave, we are indeed open M-F, and the shop is operational, although you'll see some work in process as we get settled and into the groove. We have full up manufactuing in Boise, as well as a small display of all of our products in our lobby. If we have items on hand that are not spoken for by other customers, they are available for purchase. We don't require an appointment, but if you call that day or the day before, it is much appreciated so we can do a good job of logistics. If you arrive between 8a - 3p, you'd have the best chance of seeing the operation in full swing. I will personally be in the shop this Friday until ~5p, and if you can start your weekend early, it would be great meeting you and showing you around!

Safe travels,

Dave

Dave (and everyone else) thanks for the words. Unfortunately, I just found out that we'll be staying on base and will have government vehicles. They are not allowed to leave the 'local mountain home area,' which unfortunately is an hour from Boise. Tried to see about renting a car, but with the airshow are all out. Gotta see what I can figure out here, this is to good an oppertunity to miss.
