Going to Buy A EvenHeat Oven

I bought one from Tim Zowada, I love it and Tim is cheaper then most places selling them. Check him out. Just do a search Tim Zowada. Nice Guy.

I love mine. I got the 18" deep. I had a little trouble progaming it at first. Once I re-read the instructions I was OK after I learn not to sit the ramp temp to full when you are using a lower temp for tempering. I used to send out 8 blades at a time, but now I love begin able to work on one knife blade at a time. This lets me work on a design or experminent. I started out HT ATS-34 and with Don Robinson's recipe I have done well so far no mess ups.

I like mine too. Its the 18". I want a 24" and put them end to end so I can ht a sword. Why wouldnt that work?

It is the one I use. I have the 18 inch model with Ramp Master II controller. My only real dislike is I would like the door hinge to be more sturdy.

Be sure to check with Tim Zowada before sending your bucks for one to someone else.

My old buddy Larry just bought one and put it in my shop (I think it was a wife related decision for him not to take it home). I haven't tried it out, the directions don't make much sense to me yet. Probably just need to get in there and start playing with it. If anyone has a quick course on the "set-Pro" version of this oven, please email me. Thanks! rhrocker@hilconet.com

I got mine from Tim and could not be happier. I special ordered it with the Rampmaster II. There was a problem with the shipping company and Evenheat, double charging me for shipping. I called Tim and he took care of it, immediately, then contacted me to let me know. Tim was great at follow-up and solving the problem.

I agree with RL. It is a very nice unit, but I do wish the door hinges were a little more robust. Other than that it is great. I spent the weekend making test coupons from ATS-34 and they came out exactly like they should have so I am confident the oven is accurate at this point.

so what's the extra charge for the rampmaster controller???
hmmmm well this means no salt pot for me.
so now its time to sell my omega 76000 serries controller.

I use a little Cress furnace at work that has the same computer as the Evenheat knifemaking ovens. It's a great little rig. Read the Crucible datasheets on the steel you're using if possible and do the ramping they suggest; the computer makes it easy to do.

My only complaint about the Cress is that the thermocouple comes out of the floor, so there's a chunk taken out of the available space. It's not an issue with Evenheat's design, so I wish you well.

I had Evenheat custom make mine at 27"
with Ramp Master II controller
just make sure you get the highest watt available.

I have a chip issue with mine but I can over come that by knowing what it will do. :grumpy: :)

Lamont has a paragon but it ( at least at the time) didn't have a ramp controller available.

wow i think this is the first time i've posted about equipment where more than one person agreed on something. they must be good. thanks for the info guys. i can't wait to order one. too damn many blades sitting around, they need to be HTed and finished already
