I own an 81 TS, the same rifle minus the new trigger mechanism. Its very accurate and very reliable. Its eats everything you put in it, cheap stuff, shorts, cb longs, all of it! Never a jam.
Easy as heck to pull the bolt out and clean it if you want, but I haven't done it since it was new.
Stock fits me very well, not a little kid sized gun like a ruger 10/22. I can get a good cheek weld on it and look right over the sights. Stock is also very stiff and sturdy, unlike a lot of composite stocks.
I did switch out the return spring on the trigger after getting it, and put a couple teflon washers on each side to lighten the pull and take out the very slight side to side play. Its now a tack driver. Shooting with a half assed rest (standing with the front end on a fence post) and a cheap 4X scope, I've gotten lots of sub half inch groups at 35 yards with cheap ammo (rem 40gr high velocity solids work best, try a bunch of different stuff). I just use the iron sights now and can call my shots at 50 yards, haven't had the chance to play with it much farther out.
With the new model having a new trigger I doubt you have to do anything to it to make it a tack driver.
I really don't think you'll find a better user .22, especially tube fed, for the money. They go for about $140 out here.
