I'm going to Cabela's this Saturday. Other than finding a great deal on a centerfire bolt action rifle, like a Remington or Ruger, I'm not really looking for anything. The first time I went to the one in Delaware Memorial Day weekend, I bought a Ron Hood DVD. I didn't see any DVDs from Ron the second time I went the beginning of August on the way home from the Eastern Shore. I am good for knives, I just sent final payments for a Case damascus tribal spear, a Dr T Zulu folder, buying a Lloyd Lanny's Clip and a Gossman little Deer Creek. Thinking about ammo, preferably .22, I'd like to get a new fishing rod, but get along fine with my Ugly Stik. I'm working on my weight, too fat for most clothing. I have a Tilley hat, have great flashlights. Might get a new pair of Cabelas mocs. Look in the Bargain Cave. Maybe some supplies. I'm looking for fishing supplies, bushcraft supplies, camping supplies, hunting supplies. I'd love to walk out with a 1911A1 from the Gun Room, but that isn't going to happen. Unless I find a Ruger SP101 short barrell in .357 at a great price, I'm not getting a pistol, being a Maryland resident sucks.

Any ideas on what to get other than some odds and ends and a rifle?

Last time I went there I got socks LOL. They stock Darn Tough wool socks and they are truly worth the money.

I know this is small but, Cabelas is one of the only places that I know of that sells Southern Pro crappie tubes in 1" and 1.5". Orange core chartruse peppered (think perch colored) #11 here http://www.southernpro.com/store/store_product_detail.cfm?Product_ID=324&Category_ID=1 are producers for me.

Second, see if you can find a B&M Black Widdow telescopic fiberglass cane pole. They come in 10' and 13' and sell for about $9 to $15. THey're not small and packable but they can be fun.

a few 1/16oz and 1/32oz jig heads to go with the tubes and the cane pole and you're out for under $25. :p

I am a Bargain Cave fanboy, especially for hiking clothes. Cabela's store brand pants are quite nice. I also scored my current tent there for dirt cheap. But, like so many other people, it's the guns that lure me in. I got a $250 gift card from work a couple years back, and put that towards a Steyr M9. I've bought a fair number of knives there as well.

my buddy said today that .22lr is actually just as expensive as .223 ammo around here so if you do find some at a decent price i'd buy a bunch of that! crazy but at least ammo is more widely available now.

Don't count out the SP101 in 4" barrel. Mine is the 3 and 1/16" and I love it. The extra inch or so would give me even more sight radius without reducing carry-ability. Go for .357, of course.

I hope you enjoy your Cabelas visit. If you don't live in the area of one, it can be a real treat just to go there. I my first trip to Cabelas was in November 2014 at the new Acworth GA store. I got fishing stuff and a Buck knife. Visited the same store on May 1st. Came out with some more fishing stuff, box of 22 shells (my first purchase in over 2 years) and 41 mag brass. Visited the new Chattanooga TN area store a week ago and bought a new pair of binocs (Leupold Yosemite 10x30) which I like and a new light/ultra light spinning reel. No 22 ammo in the store there. I will keep these binocs in my truck for "whatever" and use when I'm on my kayak. They are my second pair of Yosemite bincs. Enjoy. You'll likely find a good number of things that you want.

The Chatt store did have a tube type Weatherby Mark XXII (semi-auto 22) with nice wood, which tempted me. Might even go back and take a look at it again if it is not sold.

I saw quite a bit of stuff I wanted, but only took home a box of .22LR, a gift for my brother in law, I pair of Merrell wide slip ons, and some other odds and ends. I did see a used Ruger SP101 revolver that I wanted to get, but didn't have the B.S. license needed to obtain one in Maryland. The price was great on it, and I am in the process of getting my act together. I bought pre foolishness, so I should be a shoo in.

I love Cabela's.

My last trip I bought some bank line and some wind proof matches.

I always check out the bargain cave and bought a really nice Pedersoli .54 Hawken for $250, regular price well over $400.

I also bought my Zebco 33 Platinum reel there.

I also bought my one man tent there but I recommend a 2 man tent if you want a 1 man tent.

I would rather go to Cabela's than Disney World or Disney Land.
