Hey guys, just wanting to find out what the laws are for Charleston, SC. I've read around, and it appears that a knife over 3" is not allowed to be carried concealed in Charleston. Now I'm getting my info from this site:
http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/USKnife2.pdf

So my questions is basically what constitutes "concealed?" Would that be completely hidden, and carrying with an exposed pocket clip would be open? Would I be legal to carry any-length knife in Charleston, so long as the clip is visible?

Just wanting some clarification from folks who live there, thanks!

If its clipped its not concealed. Unless you have an invisible clip.

There is the written law and there is the law as it is interpreted on the street. That said, I carried a completely concealed 4" Cold Steel "Voyager" folder in my right front pocket when my girlfriend and I visited there in 2010. The city is very friendly to tourists and as long as you mind your manners, you should have no problems. Enjoy the South Carolina barbeque (unique vinegary taste) and the locally-brewed Palmetto Pale Ale. Definitely take the boat cruise out to Fort Sumter. Lot of history there!
