Greetings ....
This Thursday i'm gonna check out the japanese exhibit at the Metropolitan art museum in N.Y.C. i havent been there in years and i'm wondering if i should leave my small sebenza classic at home. My apologies if this has been brought up before , or if i'm posting this in the wrong place but i dont see anything on there website stating knives not permitted....Thanks for any help in advance...:D

This probably should be in Knife Laws, but...

I can't speak for the Met specifically, but NYC police seem to have developed a reputation for considering anything that can be flipped open and locks to be a big no-no. They do not seem to mind giving grief about it either, whether legal or not. I would leave the folder at home to be on the safe side.

And, if the Met does have metal detectors, I'd be peeved if I'd gone all that way to be turned away to either dispose of the knife, or take it back home.

my apologies for posting in the wrong place...thanks for replying, i was actually thinking the same thing, not so much with the police cause i carry it all the time in the city and in the leather pouch, but to get all the way there an either not get in cause of metal detectors or risk confiscation.....i'll leave the sebbie at home and carry a tactical writing pen in my inside blazer pocket...thanks again

I was in there 6 weeks ago and security was tight. Some people were being checked with those hand held wand devices and bags were being searched.

I had a slippie on me but I was not searched.

The Met is one of the worlds great art museums......Have fun:)

Alfaholic, so you did get here .Hope your visit was productive.Having been a regular visiter to the Met for many years it's difficult to understand the huge changes [security] I hear about .In any case the Met is fantastic not only for the A&A but many other exhibits.Certainly worth some visits.
