... What would be generally a pocket knife that would not offend any laws of England. I am planning trip with my class mate to Glasgow. But I'd like to have something people friendly knife to carry around which is not illegal and be inoffensive.

I am considering Opinel #3 but should I consider Victorinox too? I've heard quite alot about Englands legistlation but it makes me all dizzy . All I know I won't take anything with locks or one hand opening mechanism for being safe side... and nothing really expensive just in case.

So my choices are:

Opinel # 3 (a tad small but takes really mean edge. No lock what so ever, not even springs )

Victorinox Pioneer / Solo (sturdy alox pocket knife which is renown world wide, biggest so far of my selection with 2.2" blade )

Case Peanut SS (small, in offensive and can do almost any kind of cutting job)

If you truly feel a peanut knife can handle any cutting task than I'm sure it will be fine for you and seems to be within the countries guidelines.

This one would be a good and perfectly legal choice, a Spyderco C94PMR UK Pen Knife;

I carried a Case Peanut all over the UK a few years ago. It did everything I needed a pocketknife to do. Lord I miss those English breakfasts!

The case peanut is a little small for my tastes. I own a vic solo, it's a great knife but for a single blade slip joint i carry a case barehead trapper(it's probably too long of a blade for you though, 3" cutting edge and 3 1/4 total blade lenght)

You can't go wrong with the Spyderco UKPK, it's specs are made to be legal for UK carry. holding it by the choil will help prevent it from closing on you unlike a traditional slipjoint which generally have no choil. i've never had a slipjoint close on me in use though.

You could also consider a Svord Peasant Knife. I recently acquired one and it's a fantastic knife and UK legal

...One of the best things about them is here in the UK they just, only just mind you, are within the law for legal carry. 3" non locking blade. Some say they are just over that, but not according to my ruler and the law says ' actual cutting edge'. I'll take a chance anyway and say they are legal, if they want to go in front of a jury over 1mm they can. It's one hell of a cutter for a legal carry knife. You can always grind the blade down a fraction if it bothers you.

All the advice so far is spot on!

This is my 2 pence....
For EDC a non locking SAK is cheapish and perfectly adequate (it's what I carry). It's a very familiar style pocket knife to people the world over and won't raise any eyebrows. Don't put it in your carry on luggage though!

If you have plans to go off into the countryside and do some fishing, camping etc... then you can bring a fixed blade with you if you want.

I agree with Yorkshire Boy.

I'm in the UK with the USAF and I usuall carry a SAK Soldier or a UKPK. Nobody looks twice when you pull out a Victorinox but I've got some looks with the Spyderco I think because it looks like a much more serious folder.

Have fun!

+1

Good advice.......The SAK is recognized as a totally unoffensive item. It is my chosen edc in the UK.......For the price you could take 2 with you and if you loose one or it goes blunt you have the other.........

Have a great trip:)
