I have been collecting knives for quite a few years now, but it's always been one-hand openers with premium steel and super-strong locks. I want to give slip joints a try, but don't know where to start. I'd like to spend under $50, but can spend up to $100 if this bumps me into some knife that every knife knut should have. I love SAK, but want to try out a 1-3 bladed slipjoint. I don't like stag handles, wood is okay, certain nice plastics/composites are okay too, G-10 and Micarta are best. I don't really like small knives, usually the bigger the better for me. Please recommend me a slippie.

BTW, I have and really like a Case Sodbuster in CV. This is the knife that makes me want to try something else in this category.

Case makes G-10 handles you might try Shepard Hills cutlery where you can browse by handle materials or patterns. Also the Hallmark line of Kissing Crane or Chief brands are very well made for a cheap pricepoint (around$20) if you want to try out some patterns before you drop a ton of cash on one. there is also rough rider< both are imports but well made

Case Sodbuster is a good place to start, a couple of their other knives are good choices.

Nontraditional slip joints I'd go for a UKPK. :)

I was going to suggest a couple custom makers, but that's a bit more then $100. :o

I am a fan of GEC, the Tidioute brand especially. I suggest you take a look at the Scout patterns.

As already mentioned, Case offers G-10 in black currently. They did make it in orange, but IIRC it is discontinued. However with a little searching they can still be found...

You might think about getting an early Case. The quality was usually very good, and they had some of the nicest looking red or green bone scales.
A decent user will crowd your 100.00 limit, but IMHO they are worth it...

A cheaper route would be an early U.S made Schrade. IMO they don't have the eye appeal, but they are very well made. Get one that doesn't have the plus after the Schrade on the tang stamp, and it will have the infamous 1095 blades...

Well since you got a Case Sodbuster and like it why not take the next step up? I'd suggest trying out a Case Yellow Handle Trapper, not a lot more than the Sodbuster so you can save the extra cash towards a much nicer one later if you like the Trapper.

The bigger the better, huh? How about a nice two-blade folding hunter? ;)

With a one-hand opener with premium steel for size comparison.

Buck 301 stockman is a great value. You could probably find a 301 and 303, used of course, for 50 bucks at a gun show.

Try a full size Trapper in yellow from CASE or a Large Stockman- CASE, QUEEN CUTLERY or GEC. BÖKER do some decent knives too, there a wealth of choice out there even non stag!

I'm a fan of Queen folders with D2 blades and amber bone scales.
If you like big, the Cattle King is a 4 1/4" stockman design with a 3 3/8" main blade:
