I'm going to Boston this winter, and I have no idea what to expect. I rarely travel and the last time I flew was pre-9-11.

First off, I'm guessing an SAK would be legal in Boston, but would a Spyderco Cricket or Navigator?

Second, since I have no idea how flying works anymore, will my knife be okay in my checked baggage or will a bunch of gorillas open it and steal them?

Finally, I've never experienced a New England winter before. Will I be frozen to the pavement within seconds of exiting the plane?

Thanks

you should be fine with any of those blades... link.

can't talk on the weather though... good luck.

*edit* check out this link too. it is specifically about boston.

Anything with a blade 2.5" or less should be fine. Anytime I go to boston, I carry my standard 3" Benchmade and Leatherman Charge. Never had any problems before, but I didn't flash them around or hassle any cops either.

Depends on where you're coming from. If it's someplace where it never snows or drops below 50, then you're in for something new. :)

As for knives, the state's general laws have no actual limit on blade length for knives that are not of a prohibited type. Cities can have more restrictive ordinances like the one for Boston mentioned above. I'm pretty sure Salem and Lawrence fit that category too. Best thing, as always, is to be discreet and conscious of your surroundings if you have a need to use a knife.
