Going to New Jersey/New York area in Aug.

Is anyone near Maplewood NJ? I'm going to visit my brother for a week and would like to do some hiking or backpacking. I know Tony is not too far...I think.

The Delaware Water Gap area is pretty nice. At the border of Pa/NJ probably about an hour NW of maplewood.

Southern part of the state and huge areas for hiking camping backpacking. I tended to head up to NY to Bear Mountain State park when I lived in NJ, but I was pretty close.

I have been eating a lot of dirt lately and I figured it may be time to see some family and change the scenery a bit. It's always a good place to get away and do some writing in peace! Got some friends out there too but wanting to find some people to hike with.

If you go to NYC, you might want to take a walk though central park....not really a hike or the wilderness but it is a great place to spend a little time.
