Going to order my GSO 10 have a couple questions?

Will it have a number? Will the G-10 be textured? There isnt many options for scales will they offer more
choices before its built or will they make it with what ever I designate now? I hate waiting for stuff. How
long am I going to go crazy waiting for this to be made? By the end of the year?

Most unlikely on more handle scales options, but you can ask to change at a later date, if and when!

I think casino hit all of those question right on the head. I don't remember reading for sure, but I thought Guy was planning on doing the texturing going forward but I'd like confirmation on that. There weren't as many options for the handles on larger knives because of grip issues with G10 - but with the new texturing maybe that could change...?
 
Thanks I guess Ill go with Micarta just incase. I was hoping to have it for xmas. I know Ill love it once I get it.
 
Guy has said before his favorite handle material is linen.

Definitely don't plan on it for Christmas. Unless we see some new things happening in the shop I wouldn't even make specific plans to have it for summer 2017.

It will MOST DEFINITELY be an amazing knife for you, but just go in with an open mind about the wait.
 
Damn wait a year or get the 12 sooner and just try and score a 10 on mon sales. Damn! Im confused again. What to do?
 
I hate waiting for stuff too, so I feel your pain. If you can just order and forget about it that would be best lol. I'm not so good at that but...comes with the territory.

I'll give you my straight up opinion, which may come at the expense of earning myself some stink eyes!

I was pretty upset at first when I missed out on the GSO-12 but no more! I will wait for it as a F-2nd if & when and the same will go for a GSO-10. Based on the current production and fulfillment, I would estimate sometimes in 2018 before you see a new Gen GSO-10 in F-1st!

Now that the 10 is so far off. Im going for the 12 first, than I can save up for the 10 down the road. Good plan.

You can find the old GSO 10 on the secondary markets here in the market forums and on eBay. But you're going to have to wait deep into 2017 or into 2018 (just a guess) to get a new one. I know "this sucks" but it is what it is.....

The other thing you can do is get a less expensive chopper like: RAT-7 or Becker BK9 for around $100 or one of the Schrade choppers for less than $50, and just wait for the new 10 or 12 to come out.

If it's in your budget, put the word out that you're after a current model 10 (if it appeals to you at all). I know there have been some complaints about the handle, but I have one and really like it. You could use it as much as you want and then move it along before the new models come out to generate funds for one of them. Who knows, it might grow on you in the mean time though, mine has on me.

Hi Flsurfer,

Regarding the GSO10
Models are mostly made/released one at a time. The current model being made/released is the GSO 4.7 which has been in production well over a year.
The GSO10 has not even entered production que yet and thre are Eight Models ahead of it in que .... So no, you won't have it by the end of the year and will likely be well over a year, though no one knows exactly how long.. 1 1/2 years, 2 years, 5 years? No one knows.... but everyone here can tell you it will likely be quite a bit longer then a year.. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

+1 Great suggestion! I love the handles on my GSO 10 but if you didn't like it you can always flip it for the same price you paid for it and be twice the wiser.

Having been around the subforum for less than 6 months which coincides with my purchasing of Survive! knives, I have learned to read in between the lines and thanks to many of the great posters on here with much more experience than me vis-a-vis Survive!'s past and present presale order history and fulfillment, I have decided that because of my own impatience and short attention span, the best way forward for me personally will be to sift through the secondary market and also the Mondays Sales. In fact, I am seriously thinking about cancelling my two existing preorders!

This has little bearing on the ways of Survive! but rather my own fickle habits. I LOVE their knives but their pace does not fit very well with my own desires for immediate gratification. Therefore I will be resigned to paying up to a substantial premium over MSRP for the "right" model and color combo, plus I will be aggressive on certain Mondays to acquire one or more directly from Survive!. Hope this will also help you!

I want the new GSo10. I have a bk9, trailmaster, junglas, and barkriver pro brush knife. I dont need a big chopper I want a GSO big ass knife.

Im with you. Ill be fasr as hell soon as they release the 12. I may just buy the 77 because im impatiant.

I also got one on eBay. It was a F-2nd and was NOT a safe queen as the seller had claimed. I paid quite good $ for it too and wasn't as a**hole about it taking the seller to task as I gave him the benefit of the doubt (legend has it that some of these didn't come perfectly sharp from Guy back in the day!). I cleaned it up myself and made it razor sharp using my own DMT diamond plates and Spyderco UF plate. Once the new ones come out, I will do the same too. I much prefer to buy from Guy directly, but only when the actual product surfaces and I will pay up the premium if and when necessary. Not into preorders anymore!
