Title pretty much says it all. My only criteria is that it won't get taken by Thai customs. If anyone has real world experience I would like your feedback. I have a ton of knives in house to pick from and would be open to a new purchase. This is going to be a vacation. Need something for every day tasks, going to the beach, being outside kind of stuff. I usually carry more than one knife so I was already thinking a multi-tool or SAK with something with a 3.5-4 inch blade that locks or is fixed.

take what you want , as long as you dont use it on someone your fine. I usually take my small esse with me to cut the kids food . hey why not just buy something when you get there

Use the trip as an excuse to buy something when you get there. I'll bet there are a lot of handcrafted gems available...

I've been before and brought a SAK and an Izula and didn't have any issues. Wanted to bring something a little nicer this time around.

Just don't try to walk on the plane with a machete. Then the TSA will REALLY get up close and personal.

I agree that a leatherman/sak is probably your best bet.

Bring no knife at all, that way you're cool with the customs. There are some stunning bladesmithes over there. Rather think about what you could buy on site and bring back : the Thais will let it out as "souvenir" no problem, I imagine. Take care about the customs regulation of your home country, though.
