Allen Elishewitz sent a letter out to his dealer customers , That he will no longer be making custom knives.

The value of his customes will be going up.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND

Hi Trane,

Allen makes a nice knife, but he made so many of them over the last 10 years that the knives probably won't go up in value. Many sell for below retail in the aftermarket.

However, it may boost the prices on some of his limited edition models.

Lastly, he is not taking custom orders, but from what I understand he will still be attending several shows with knives to sell. Consequently, the supply will not dry up completely.

1 - He stopped taking orders. He's still making knives.
2 - If he stopped making knives, his following would dwindle and the value of his knives would drop. Many, many examples of this.

I agree. As much as I like Allen's knives, I don't think he has the following that would be needed to see his knives increase in value.

Here is a comment on this subject that was posted by Allen on the Custom Knife forum.

Sorry for some of the misunderstandings/confusion! I am not quitting knifemaking, I am just not taking "individual" orders. I took the decision so I can have more time to work on other projects and collaborations. I will continue to be at shows and bring knives. You will still be able to get knives available from my website. I am not slowing down, to the contrary I am even more involved.
