I,m still doing my walking regime . Taking it easy on a heal bruise that is slowly going away . The darn achiles tendon is sore . It is not the healthiest of ankles from a previous injury . Even if I stretch out the calf carefully the tendon still seems to be seizing up or shortening . Not too painful . Just enough to tell me I am not treating it right .I have a big tournament/walk on Sunday . I,m going to lighten my routine a little and wear a boot with more of a heel on it . I think eventually I will have to find a trainer or some kind of sports therapist . I have to keep this body in motion . If it persists I,ll bicycle more and walk a bit less . Muttly the wonder dog doesn,t like to run with the bicycle though so its only a temporary solution .

At least you've engaged the battle. I really enjoy your writings about, and your obvious zeal for your archery. I believe thats why you're doing this training? Good on you Kevin.

I,m going to put on a capsacin patch and a heeled boot for training today ,. Some rolling grassland and a few downhill and uphill shots . Nothing drastic . I,ll give my body a chance to heal for a couple of days . Short walks and throw Baron Twinkle Toes the ball instead of long walks with him .

Kevin, were you listening to me when I told you about ibuprofen or have you already tried it and it does not work?

your tendon.

Hmmmm, hey Kevin, know anybody that's got a hot tub? Chicks dig 'em and so do achilles tendons. ;)

Better boots will help. I did a seven miler cross country yesterday with a thirty lb. pack. Knew it was going to be steep hills, rough ground, and lots of loose rocks, so out came the serious heavy leather hiking boots with padded ankles. The added support was golden, right as rain this morning, feel like dancing, but think I'll go mow my lawn instead. :D

Barry Bonds has had good results with steroids. Are you going to be tested before the archery contest? LOL

PS. That wasn't serious, and I don't know where to get them either.

Munk the Ibu helps . It may be a question of a stressed joint and a spare tire thats overinflated . Nothing like carrying a 50 pound pack around your gut to throw you off and weigh you down .

I think Sarge has a good part of the solution with the serious upgrade as to footwear . I,m going to look around . Serious shoes cost serious money . I,m also size 12 EEEE which narrows availability .

As for the Steroid route ? Later for that . L:O:L

Ain't joking about that hot tub Kevin, make you feel like a new man, or at least make the old one feel frisky. ;)

p.s.: good boots are expensive, but I'd rather spend money on gear than pain killers, wearing two pair of socks is a sure bet too, adds cushioning and redirects friction

Ibuprofen normally about three days for full intervention to get the blood serum levels up. People make a mistake and take it intermitantly like aspirin. You should keep to a regime with the NSAID's and let them do their work.

Ibuprofen is my hangover cure of choice . I usually take three and then back that up with a couple more in a couple of hours .
I was only taking the Ibuprofen as overnight relief . I,ll try what you say and give it longer . I hear more and more that just relaxing the muscle or reducing inflamtion around and in the afflicted part does wonders . Will taking it for a week suffice ? How many a day should I take . I,m a generous 250 pounds .

If your achilles tendon is still hurt, you need ibuprofen. I don't care about your hangover. I recall using Ibuprofen for that also.

Write me privately and I will tell you what I know about ibuprofen.
