Gold Color Folder??

I saw a gorgeous Genovese (?)SS folder at the Chesapeake Knife Show with lapis inserts in the grip for $1500. Pricey, but I wear lapis a lot, although always in gold. I didn't think I would carry it much if it didn't match the other 'accessories' so I passed on by.

Question: Should I have bought it and sent it out to be disassembled, plated, and reassembled? Is there a durable gold/gold colored finish that looks like 14-18k jewelry gold? I've read about the high-tech shooting crowd going to goldish titanium plating(?) on moving parts to reduce wear. Would this work on SS knives, too?

I have seen some things with a gold ti nitrate coating. The swisstech keychain tool comes to mind. I think Buck knives used it some also. Hopefully someone here will know more.

hey as rodney dangerfield put it it looks good on you though!

ahwile back I had an idea for a cheap knife company called "PIMP" knives and have purple velvet and rabbits foot and garrish colors like gold:barf: :barf:

sell them to skateboarders and such!

but I don't belong to that culture and didn't want to be a salesman
so it would have went under but it was a fun idea.

I know the 125th Anniversary Camillus EDC I got has a gold Titanium Nitride clip and thumbstuds. The coating has held up well for me. Maybe someone at Camillus like Will Fennell could give you more info. on how they do this?

Your sig line, "Harmony is Carbon V and a Japanese waterstone".

Sounds cool, but how does one achieve a harmonious state with a fictional steel?

:D ;) :p

I understand the comment about "pimp" knives - I feel the same about nickle plated/pearl handled handguns - but taste isn't the only issue.

There's a very practical issue here. I've observed that I can frequently take a knife that looks like a "jewelry" item where I can't take one that looks like a chainsaw!

I have other "Doctor's folders" that fit the bill of a covert weapon hiding under a fancy enterior with Damascus blades and exotic handle materials. This would be just one more in the knife box.

Anything from the William Henry Black-n-Tan series sounds like it would fit the bill.

Check out 1SKS.com for these, which is where I got the pic.
