I got an email from yam today. He is having trouble logging into BFC. He edited his profile and changed his email. Here is the email he sent me.

Hi Ken,

My Bladeforum member name is yam, my e-mail address is mwd@whidbey.com.
I edited my profile and have not been able to log for a month or so. I
edited the e-mail part, I am dumb and not worthy.

Anyway you can help a poor, pitifull dumbass .....me?

Thanks,
Mike Davis

How can we help him get back in?

That just happened to me. I changed my email address and then I couldn't get on BFC even as a Guest. I couldn't figure what was wrong.

Then when I checked my email at my new mail server there was an email from BFC to confirm my identity. I replied and I was back in business.

Tell the guy to check his email.

I informed Mike to check his email. This is his response.

Ken,

The problem is I put mwd(no spam)@whidbey.com, which will not work
unless the (no spam) is removed. I do this for other forums in the
public profile section and forgot BladeForums does things a little
different and uses that address for confirmation.

Mike

Any other suggestions?

Probably the easiest way is for an admin type person to get into the administrative CP (where you can alter users details, etc.) and change his email address to the correct one and then manually approve his registration.

For the love of Pete. When you edit your email address, it asks you to confirm it twice, there's a reason for it - WE SEND OUT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL TO THAT ADDRESS. If it was there for giggles, you wouldn't be asked for it twice.

Spark,

I know, I know....I am a dumb ass. Thanks for helping me out, I'll try not to be so inept in the future. Trust me, I don't like being stupid anymore than you like me being stupid.

Thanks again,
