How can I go about being a good member without using PayPal? I can use a card, just hacked too many times on PayPal. Is there an option to use it without signing up? Thanks in advance.

If I understand you correctly, you're trying to upgrade your account to gold but the only option you see to pay is the 'buy now with PayPal' button? If so, you are in luck: if you click on that the next screen with give you the option to skip PayPal and pay with a debit/credit card.

If you're concerned about using PayPal for buying/selling on the forums, there are other forms of payments to transfer money between individuals that include checks, money orders, or alternative electronic payment methods like Venmo. Of course, you'll have to convince the other party to use a less convenient method, and probably lose a few sales/purchases because of it, but there are many on the forums who don't use PayPal.
