Just bought a gold through PayPal but when I go to settings I cannot find the permission group which allows me to update my display name. Any help?
 
Settings > My Account (left column) > Permission Groups

Change from registered user to Gold
 
So how long till spark does it?

I've been a gold/platinum supporter for seven years now.

I've been very patiently waiting for over three weeks for my renewal to go through...
 
I would like access to the wtb section as soon as possible so I would really appreciate my membership being upgraded
 
why do you people pay by paypal and then complain about it taking so long when you already did the same thing before??

Not sure what you mean by this, doesn't seem like a very helpful comment.

I've paid for my platinum/gold renewal every year by paypal and never had to wait more than a day or two, Spark has always processed it quickly. Paypal is the only payment option available to me in Canada (this is a BF policy not mine). Paypal payments go through to the recipient immediately, the fact that this has to be manually processed is not the fault of "us people", but an IT issue with how the site operates, from what I understand paypal transaction must be entered manually by Spark, which doesn't seem like an efficient way to operate, but I'm sure Spark has his reasons for this. I paid a couple of days before my renewal date for this reason. I understand Spark has posted that his laptop is down, but three weeks plus is a bit much. This is an exchange of funds for a product; if you ordered an in-stock knife from a retailer and three weeks later it still hadn't shipped I'm sure you'd be a little bit concerned as well.

This tech support forum is where issues like this are supposed to be handled and there is no other way, at least that I know of, to get in touch with Spark. I've tried emailing his paypal email address directly and received no response.

You can post a want to buy thread, you just cannot reply to them until your membership goes through. As far as a time frame, it can vary.
 
CRX, you were live the second you did the membership - you just needed to change your permissions group display.

mckrob - using paypal you can use the automated system to have your membership activated instantly. I need to update that section of the forums. I've already set you to gold and extended your membership to make up for the delay

I am sorry. I didn't know that. I see alot of people that live here in the USA and they still do paypal. I was just trying to point out that useing a credit card is so much easyer.

So I was unaware to use a credit card; and I too used paypal (1st time buying membership). I would like to post in the for sale area. What is the expected time frame for gold user status to update?
