Gold membership? Paid but not credited.

Hello,

I upgraded my membership to Gold, on June 5th.

But, to this point, I still have not had my status changed.

The payment was made via paypal, and I understand that that means something has to be done manually, but even still.....it's been a week. That seems too long.

I already sent a follow up e-mail to tech support, but that has been ignored.

Any suggestions?

I thought it was too, I just went into my settings and looked around. There is a section where it asks which way you want to be seen as, registered or gold. Just select gold and you'll be fine. I did it this morning

That did it. Thanks for the quick response.

Any reason why someone would pay for a Gold membership, and then not want to be seen as a Gold member?

JaxBlueMan, IDK why either, it did the same thing to me when I went to post my "Fire Sale" thread. I think that's why it locked me out. And btw, speaking of you have email.

2 possible reasons.
Too lazy to change the user group. Or they just can't figure it out.

When I upgraded from Basic to Gold, I asked the same question (Where da Gold?), because I had no idea I needed to update my user group myself once the payment took effect. I asked here (Tech Support) as well, and a Mod pointed the way.

My apologies if I missed something obvious (it's been known to happen! :o), but is the directive for the manual-user-group change stated anywhere near the upgrade/payment text and buttons? If not there, where? I've looked, but-- again!-- have missed information in the FAQs before.

Thanks!

If I remember right, it used to update automatically but that feature went away in one of the vBulletin "upgrades".

Right RevDevil, but my question is why even make someone have to manually change their own status? I mean.... of course I want to be seen as a Gold member if I went through the time and cost to pay for the membership upgrade.

Judging from the number of other members with similar issues and questions, it's a common problem.

It seems like this is the type of thing that could be automated. (I understand that it used to be)

As a 'proud supporter of common sense,' surely you can understand that, right?

I don't have any way to answer your question. That might be something you could ask Spark (the owner).

A couple of years ago, vBulletin "upgraded" the software. Left out of the upgrade was automatic updating of the user group, which the old software took care of, correctly. Now we have to do it for ourselves.

How about that? :)

I wish I could remove that link. I don't think it goes anywhere. No one seems to get a response from it.
Posting in this Tech Support forum works much better.

Thanks, Esav.

That's the part I missed back when I was waiting, back when I didn't have to wait but didn't know it. It was hidden... right there on the Paid Subscriptions page.

(I totally missed it there at the time I paid, then searched afterwards and since, vainly, for any such information on the Paying Membership FAQs page and the like.)

There is unfortunately no way I can find for me to correct problems in the FAQ. Suggestions to Spark might eliminate this regular misunderstanding in updating permission groups.

I'm updating that section of the FAQ now
