Hi I've paid up, and I've tried to follow the instructions, but I can't seem to add the permission group to go gold.
Can any Mod/Admin help me out?

Your Gold membership is not yet active. Overseas transactions have to be entered manually by Spark, so it can take a few days. Editing your first post to include payment type and the transaction number of your receipt will help him find your request.

I'm not a moderator or admin, thought this might help.

Thanks for the advice, I was having the same issue but followed your steps and activated my gold membership.

Spark is the only one who handles these. Just bump the thread up every few days and he will see it and get you set up.

Seems nobody is getting this taken care of within the 72 hour period. Mine was paid Sunday and nothing as well.

Jill, a close following of this subforum reveals that if a manual transaction is taken care of within 72 hours, it's more a matter of coincidence than intent. Most seem to average a week to 10 days (meaning, some are taken care of sooner, some much later).

I'm not sure why a well-annotated, complete transaction should require a public post (let alone repeated Bump) to be acted upon, but -- here's a bump, and I hope to see your scorpion again soon. :)

I read allow up to 72 hours, I had no idea it commonly took much longer than that. Thanks for your help.

Comment moved to my own "waiting for activation" thread - nevermind (didn't want to hijack this thread).

Alex

I've reported to the Mods, I've emailed Spark, I've bumped the thread.
None of it has worked.
I'm giving it until the three week point, (23rd Feb) then I'll start a Paypal chargeback.

Your frustation is completely understandable. Spark is only person who can help here. I'll send him another PM. Thanks for being more than patient.

Seems the process to activate manually is considered a "pain in the ass", so I guess that may be why these are on the back-burner...

"Why do memberships under the "old" (non-automated) system cost more and memberships under the automated system?

The key word is "automated" as "automation" allows us to streamline our processes. Non-US memberships that cannot go through our automated system require manual action on the part of our staff. This includes:
•Manually reviewing the order
•Checking to make sure there actually is a username that matches up with the account
•Turning off our address verification system
•Running the charge(s)
•Activating the membership
•Changing the account status
•Turning back on the address verification system
•Notification of the customer.

Needless to say, this is a pain in the ass. So, when we introduced the automated system, we were able to eliminate the manual processing the wasted so much time, and offered a discount to the customers who are able to use this new system. Those who cannot use the automated system get charged the older manual prices.

You may also notice that there is no option for Basic Memberships under the old system. It was determined that there was not enough demand to warrant a basic membership option for international customers & a waste of manpower under the non-automated system, as such it is not available. If you are able to use the automated subscription system, you are welcome to purchase a basic membership; if not, you have our apologies."

I'd crack those out for $5 a pop. :)
