I like the etched-in (not printed!) Spyder on the blade. Is this harder to do with steels that don't have a 420 sandwich? Could it be done on all models? It looks like a great way to combat knockoffs. You know it's a good one because it has the gold spyder on the blade.

It looks cool with the burgundy (sp?) handles, but a gold spyder along with a black handle would look equally cool.

I paid up for the fast shipping, though I never have before. This was just too important, man!

I also did it because I was buying a Spur and Jester at the same time. It's not that bad if you are buying a lot of stuff because newgraham doesn't try to ream you for buying more stuff.

I'll second you on the gold bug on the blade. It's sweet looking.

Please use in on more models!

I don't understand why a great steel like ZDP-189 is on aCalypso Jr(not that it's anice knife) but why not on a higher end Spydie like maybe a smaller ATR, a chinese LUM ,etc...I just gor mine and I like it.

It's a functional design and hopefully a functional steel. I like to have good steel on knives I am not too afraid to use.

If you put this new steel on a $150 knife, you get a lot less feedback on whether it is worth using on other knives.

They (Spyderco) wanted to provide ZDP-189 in an inexpensive knife so more people would have a chance to try out the new steel. I got mine today and time will tell how good the steel is. We all know the knife (Caly Jr.) is a good one. Walter  :D

My gold spyder might be defective. Just scratching it with a fingernail gets powder falling off.
