While on a cabin weekend/fishing trip to northern Minnesota a few weeks ago, my buddy's wife snapped these pics of a golden eagle while on a hike near Crane Lake.
Seeing this bird was really a day maker. I had no idea we had golden eagles in MN! We have bald eagles everywhere, but this is a different creature
altogether. The size of these birds is eye-popping. They're HUGE! One flew over a bay we were fishing in and even from a distance the size of this
bird was pterodactyl-like. It was a privilege to witness such a thing of beauty.

Goldens are amazing creatures. We spent some "up close and personal" time with one named Jack at the Boise ID center for Birds of Prey a while back. Until you see them up close you really don't get a feel for how big and how powerful they are.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing amazing shots and experience.

Never seen one in person as we have only six hundreds pairs in Japan.

I saw one in person, eating on a deer at the side of a road here in WI. When he spread his wings, they were bigger than the car. I don't know why he just didn't carry the deer off.
