IMHO, this is a fine looking butterfly knife... The nicely aged ivory micarta goes very well with the brass handles and their steel pins. The blade is a great example of a Samson ground/designed WeeHawk and overall the knife is in superb condition. The previous owner "did me a favor" :( and polished the brass for me, being the old Marine he was SEMPER FI! I really liked the many years of patina but, ahhhh, you can't have everything. It's a nice one! ;)

Awesome Dawkind!!!! But of course you already knew that :D Another beauty added to your collection.

Dawkind:

I don't know if you have the finest BM Bali collection in America, but you get my vote:)

Your photos are always superb (I'm gonna have to get a bigger hard drive to store them for drooling over).

Just wanted to say "Thanks" for the continuing education:D

Wowwww! Really nice of you to share such high quality pictures Dudley. I'm a long time "reader" on the Forums, but a first time "poster":) If time permits could you give a little history on the brass frame on this piece? (i.e., how many were made with this frame, etc)...ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Again ~~> thanks for sharing!

The only person that might know how many were made would be Jody Samson since he made just about all of them, but who the hell knows where he is!!!

I heard a rumor that Jody was making art knives and functional fantasy knives. It could have just been a rumor though.

WHAT??? I was away for a week and WHAM!! Dawkind got a new baby!

:D Kidding.

It really is a beauty. Tell us more. Is that PC or BM? Specially ordered custom?

How is the new job if you don't mind sharing ... It must be paying well .. as you keep getting new babies ...:)

It's an early PC, which surprised me when I received it, but I thought from the brass handles it would have been a Bali-Song Cutlery Company knife. I would guess that stainless had kind of become the material of choice for handles, by the time this one was made, but someone opted for the brass and I'll glad! I've only seen pictures of a couple other early customs that had the brass handles with inserts.

Dawkin,

You are really an inspiration. I have no good bali till date, my best is BM239s .. and a Japan brass handled Tanto with no brand. Since I can't afford to get a BM42 or 43 yet, your liner: Never Give Up inspired me to hang in there till one day .. maybe one day ....

;)

Thanks for the information Dudley. Yeah I would have thought that was a Bali-Song Cutlery piece for sure <if I had to guess>...appreciate you letting me know.
