It's been a while since we've talked about Spyderco's GOLDENSTONE sharpening tool as well as a few of their other great sharpening tools. It's been almost 3 years since they discontinued the 701 Profile set and I'm surprised that they have not brought them back into production because they are a very versatile sharpening tool. I still talk to a lot of the guys on other forums who would still like to have a set of the 701 Profiles.

Also I'm baffled that Spyderco has not offered up the GOLDENSTONE in more grits>> they currently only offer it in fine grit. I do like experimenting with the GOLDENSTONE because it is a really nice sharpening tool for touching up blades that are not really dull but need to be touched up a bit.

Nothing much needs to be said about Spyderco's brilliant 204 Sharpmaker but I've not had many people tell me how the newer CBN stones are working for them. So let's chat about Spyderco's sharpening tools>> I would like to know more about the GOLDENSTONE more than anything but I'm open to chat about any of Spyderco's great sharpening tools.

Also since the company has told us about the GAUNTLET which is a new sharpening tool they are going to release soon however I haven't heard anything much about it since they told us. If anyone knows anything about the GAUNTLET please chime in.

I use my 701's a lot, they work great IMO.

I've said for years that the 701 Profile kit is probably one of Spyderco's very best kept secrets. The 701 Profiles are so versatile and if they were offered in more grits you would have so many different tradesmen wanting them. Being that the GOLDENSTONE's popularity has not yet taken off I think that the Profiles would sell well at this point if they were brought back.

When they were discontinued about 3 years ago I bought more sets of them so I would always have a set of 701 Profiles. I've talked to two guys who use nothing but the 701 Profiles for most all of their sharpening needs. There was also a smaller set of the same tool called the 702 Profiles which were exactly half the length of the 701 tool. If the 701 Profiles were brought back in a wider grit selection I think they would be great selling tools regardless what they end up doing with the GOLDENSTONE>> because I do believe that when they get the base unit for the GOLDENSTONE and eventually add more grit selections of the tool that the GOLDENSTONE will be high in demand as well.
