Good evening Everyone,

I have been looking at a lot of his work and he has some really nice designs and beefy looking blades. Does anyone have any of his knives that would like to comment on it...comparing to other Knife makers (CPK, Busse, Esee,...) and preferably one in Sleipner steel?

Thanks and stay healthy and safe BF Members!

There's a good review here by the user SharpPancake : https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/gollik-elx-edc-custom-review.1647877/

I have one (SLSR model with 5 1/2" blade in Elmax) and I used it quite a lot. It's good quality for the price.

Thanks for the link. It was a good source to learn about. Yours is a pretty nice one. How does it feel in the hand? I have xl hands and it looks like there is enough room. Gollik has that HTU model up for sale and I am on the fence about it. I can't find too much on the Sleipner steel, besides it being more in the European market and comparable to D2. Lionsteel uses it and some of the reviews are that it rusts pretty quick while others say it does fine. Idk...

I've had a knife from Gollik for over a couple years now and would whole-heartedly recommend getting one, especially if you want something large and durable. I posted a brief review of my knife here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/gollik-knives-slt3.1522017/

Regarding the Sleipner steel, I've found it doesn't rust that easily. I make sure to wipe the blade after use and have yet to see any rust spots develop. I really like the combination of Sleipner and heat-treat on my Gollik knife because it deforms rather than chips, yet still keeps a sharp edge for a decently long time, making sharpening not such a chore.

It feels good in the hand and the handle is large enough to accommodate xl hands. But Jakub is a custom knife maker and I think you can request what you want in term of size modification.
The only point I don't like is the fact that the jimping is a little bit too sharp.

Two more photos to compare sizes with well known knives.

Hi Fellas,
Wow, this is what I really like about BF, a fantastic group who shares what they know with no shame to those who don't know. Thank you all for the input and pics!! :)

How has the Elmax held up in terms of edge retention and chipping? How about is it comparable with CPK's D3V and INFI?

Unfortunately I'm not experienced enough to answer you. For my use the edge retention was good and there was no chipping. But admittedly I only used the knife on usual tasks and never abused it to test the limits (no impact on hard surfaces, etc).
I can't really compare it to D3V and INFI. As you certainly know, these two steels are not stainless and much tougher.

If you ask me If I prefer my Carothers FK2 to my Gollik SLSR I would answer yes. But that's easy because in my opinion the SLSR is "just" a good knife with a good quality/price ratio whereas the FK2 is truly a masterpiece.

I just received a custom ordered Gollik knife. A 3.5" Elmax with Micarta handle. Took 5 months after i gave him my custom instructions via email. Then after the final bulk payment when he had the knife finished i received said knife in less than 2 weeks from the C.R. overseas. I also own a survive knife. A carothers. And an Esee. Golliks is hands down the best for a multitude of reasons.
