Tell us though, wasn't it kinda tricky sleeping on the side of the little canyon like that, even with your feet downhill?

When I was in my teens my friends and I slept outside most of every summer as well as went camping/fishing quite a bit. A lot of my friends couldn't get over and laughed at me something awful because I would dig myself a somewhat shallow, "butt/hip hole" where I was going to sleep and especially on hard ground.

That is until they would wake up with a bad/stiff back ache the next morning because the hard ground didn't give like the usually soft mattresses they were used to sleeping on.

And if we were going to be there for another night or two you I could bet on them asking me for advice on how deep, wide, and long to dig one for themselves the next night. I always had the last laugh.

Now for a long time folks have had the choice of getting one of those fancy soft sleeping mats, although I'd still want/need a "butt/hip hole."<VBESEG>
